PDF to Word

Extract the text from a PDF into an editable Word (.docx) file. This is a text-extraction tool, not a layout-preserving converter — see the FAQ below for what to expect.

How to convert a PDF to Word online

Upload your PDF and click "Convert to Word." The text on every page is extracted and reassembled into a Word (.docx) document, with a page break between each original page. Download the .docx file and open it in Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice to edit the text.

Be upfront about what this does and doesn't do: it extracts text, not layout. Complex formatting, tables, multi-column text, images, and exact fonts are not preserved — a real full-fidelity PDF-to-Word conversion needs a much heavier engine than anything that can run entirely in a browser. This tool works best on straightforward text-based PDFs (letters, reports, forms with typed answers) where you mainly need the words back in an editable format, not a pixel-perfect copy.

Does this preserve the original PDF's layout and formatting?
No — this pulls the readable text out of your PDF into a plain Word document, so you can edit the words. Complex layouts, tables, columns, images, fonts, and precise formatting are not preserved. For a PDF that's mostly text (letters, articles, forms with typed answers), this works well; for a heavily designed document, expect to reformat after opening it.
Why is the text out of order or missing?
Text is reconstructed line by line from its position on the page, which works well for a single-column document but can interleave text out of order on multi-column layouts or complex tables. If a PDF is a scanned image (a photo of a page, not real text), there's no text to extract at all — this tool can't do OCR.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No — text extraction and the .docx file itself are both built entirely in your browser. Your PDF and the resulting file never leave your device.
