How to add page numbers to a PDF

Upload your PDF, pick where the numbers should appear and what number to start counting from, then download. Every page gets numbered in sequence starting from your chosen number.

Page numbers matter most on longer documents — a contract, report, or thesis that gets printed and handed around benefits from numbers that make it obvious if a page went missing or out of order. Starting the count from something other than 1 is useful when a PDF is one section of a larger numbered document, like a chapter that needs to continue the page count from the chapter before it.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No — page numbers are added entirely in your browser. Your PDF stays with you — your eyes only, we never get a look.
Can I start numbering from a page other than 1?
Yes — set the starting number to whatever you need, and every page after it will continue counting up from there.
Where can the page numbers be placed?
Pick any of the six standard positions — top or bottom, left, center, or right — using the position grid.
Can I set the font size?
Yes — the font size control lets you make the numbers as subtle or as prominent as you need, from a small corner mark to a large, hard-to-miss number.
Does this add "Page X of Y" style numbering?
No — each page gets a plain number in sequence (1, 2, 3...) from your chosen starting number, not a "Page X of Y" format.
Will this overwrite existing page numbers already in my PDF?
No — the new numbers are stamped on top as an additional layer of content. If your PDF already has printed page numbers, you'll see both unless you pick a position that doesn't overlap them.
